Basic Industrial Pneumatics

[Training Calendar]

Course Objective
To develop a strong fundamental knowledge of the basic principles of pneumatics, and to introduce concepts useful in the day-to-day application and troubleshooting of pneumatic components.

Course Outline

  • Pneumatic Principles: Pascal’s Law, causes of pressure, properties of air, force, pressure and area relationships, concept of work, concept of power, factors affecting actuator speed, advantages and disadvantages of pneumatic power transmission
  • Air Systems: compressors, air distribution, air treatment components, control components, actuator components
  • Pneumatic Cylinders: basic operation and theory, cylinder types, cylinder components, cylinder mounting, and other factors affecting cylinder selection
  • Pneumatic Valves: pressure, flow and directional controls, special purpose valves, valve actuator and return devices, application considerations
  • Valve and Cylinder Circuits: circuit symbols, use of symbols, control systems, circuit design consideration

Who Should Attend?
